Outdoor Events: locals gather for our annual Summer Campfire Drumming. More than 60 drummers and dancers attended the event this year. Some pictures of the 2005 event are available at this link.

Monthly Jams: the drum circle offers free workshops on world rhythm genres and drumming techniques at all of its monthly jams. This is a photo of members who gathered for a workshop on rhythms from India (Carnatic/Hindustani).

Drumming Festival Roadtrips: several members of the drum circle drove over to downtown Seattle for the annual World Rhythms Festival. Masters of the djembe, tabla, congas, and numerous other drums offered free workshops and performances throughout an entire weekend to the thrill of hundreds of up and coming percussionists. Performance Drumming Roadtrips: several members of the drum circle drove over to Seattle for the annual Medfest belly-dancing festival (largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest) and drummed for the Sultana Dancers (under the direction of Laurie Nearing) and other dance troupes attending. This year the event also introduced a Saturday evening dancing/drumming jam at neighboring Hiawatha Community Center. More pictures are available at this link.

Free Local Workshops: Michael and Cindy Moonbear from Spokane gave a fantastic workshop on traditional African Rhythms and brought two complete sets of Dununs for drum circle members to play on. To see other photos of this event, click here.

Local Performance Drumming: several members of the drum circle regularly perform with the local belly-dancing troupe Sultana Dancers under the direction of Laurie Nearing. Some photos of a performance at Ye Merrie Greenwood, our local Renaissance Faire, are available at this link.

Tri-State Gatherings: drummers and dancers from Washington, Idaho and Oregon gather for the PaJAM, an evening of dancing and drumming in neighboring Pendleton. The event has a huge turnout and more pictures are available at this link.

Workshop Roadtrips: Every once in a while, tremendous talent moves through our backyard. And when it happens, we make time for it on the road. Legendary djembe masters like Famoudou Konate of Guinea Africa and legendary Sangban players and djembe makers like Fode Camara have offered workshops in neighboring Portland and Boise ... and what an amazing opportunity it is for us to strengthen our skills and understanding of the people who started it all.
